November 2014:  Gilbert Evans has firmly underpinned its reputation as being the leading property advisor on garden centre leasing having recently advised a number of clients including Blue Diamond on its 30-year lease of the £4m turnover Trelawney Garden Centre in Wadebridge, Cornwall and on the lease of Trelawney’s 11-acre Greenfield site at Probus.

Mike Gilbert, partner at Gilbert Evans, comments:

“Leasing is now a firmly established practice as more and more businesses acknowledge the benefits of this form of selling and acquiring garden centre businesses.   The site at Probus has received planning permission that has subsequently lapsed and Blue Diamond intends to work with Trelawney to reapply for planning permission and develop the site.”

“Providing rental levels are set correctly leasing can be appropriate for large or smaller garden centres. At David’s Nurseries we have also negotiated a sale of the business and a lease to Home & Garden Centres, part of the Chessum Roses Group.”
