April 2018: On behalf of owner Edward Tarbatt, Gilbert Evans has completed negotiations with Trespass, one of the UK’s most successful outdoor clothing retailers, for a 4,500 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease on the former Bridgford Garden Centre site, Nottingham.

In 2017, Blue Diamond agreed a 35-year lease with Edward Tarbatt, the owner of Bridgford Garden Centre in Nottingham, to operate the Bridgford Garden Centre on completion of its redevelopment. Since then, Edward Tarbatt has also redeveloped the old site that now comprises five retail units.

Mike Gilbert explains: “There is strong interest in the remaining units that range from 3,500 sq ft to 5,500 sq ft. This is no surprise given the units provide an opportunity to trade alongside what many consider the most successful garden centre in the country.”

Edward Tarbatt adds: “I am delighted with the interest shown in the new units. Now that the new A46 has opened, improving access to the site, we are speaking with a mix of national, regional and local operators who are all keen to be part of the site’s success story.”

Blue Diamond’s trading statement to 31st December 2018 confirmed its Bridgford centre has been an outstanding success, producing nearly £10 million of sales in just over nine months, meeting its year five target already.
